guys i have a 10gal aquarium with 4 baby carps in it. im just gonna ask if they would die due to dizziness from the powerhead pump. or is it not suitable to put a powerhead pump inside a 10gal aquarium?

no prob get a sponge for the intake slows down the flow and makes a nice filter as well try to find one with a venturia valve as well kills three birds with one stone filters your water, keeps a debris from settling and airates your water also keeps your fish hungry from the exercise they get :) just provide a cave or log if they want out of the current which isnt that strong on a small powerhead .

I just set one up in my 10gal. It's a Penguin, exactly like fishnutham described, complete with venturi air valve and sponge intake. It pumps 170gph which creates a strong current in that sized tank, but I have it angled to shoot down into a corner where the water then ricochets back accross the bottom of the tank and seems to work fine.

A cave is a good suggestion though. I have a couple large rocks which creates some calm spots. The calm spots are also where all of the uneaten food seems to collect which makes cleaning easy.

i think the current was too strong for the baby carps.. i decided to place the pump upward so the current of the water will just go up.. my baby carps are ok now. thanks everyone
