I have a medium tech planted 90g that always runs pretty warm. I added two hagen powerheads (201, 301) to help with surface movement to facilitate better oxygenation. The problem is that these power heads run really warm and increase the tank temp further. What would be a good choice lower wattage powerhead to use? Also what size?
thanks

IMHO, I prefer Hydor Koralia evolution in my planted tanks. As a reference, one in each tank. A 750 in my 40g, 1050 in my 110g. However I also have spray bars just at the water line and modified nozzles from my 2 eheim 2217`s in each tank for additional surface agitation. I've never noticed temperature increases. I've learned the hard way to keep plants away from these power heads, it makes quite a mess with leaves and plant debris getting sucked in and stuck to the cover. Removing the debris is always interesting. If I don't do it correctly, it shoots everything all over the tank.

1050 on my 75 along with 2 canister spray bars puts out a decent amount of flow without being too strong for plants to stay rooted. 1400 would probably work too, but I'm not sure how much flow you're after.
