I have a 90g barebottom tank that is divided with a largish cichlid on each side. These fish produce a lot of waste that settles on the bottom. I would like to add a powerhead to provide some current on the bottom of the tank to help keep the waste off the bottom (and hopefully into the filter). My question is: what powerhead would be good for this? How much flow? Which brand? Thanks guys.

Yeah I have the same problem with my flowerhorn too. Craps out some heavy stuff... I'm wondering what to do as well
For tanks with sand... I highly suggest the Koralia powerheads... Their fanlike design allow them to move a maximum amount of water at a minimum volocity, therefore it is easier to set them up to move waste but not sand...
On a bare bottom tank I think any powerhead will be fine, as you have no concerns with blowing sand into your intakes... I have a couple Aqua Clear powerheads that I've been happy with for a number of years...

Hmm so it would work? Cause I went to my LFS today and the guy said its most likely my fish has a problem.

HA! Keep your Flowerhorn poop to yourself! Anyway, plus 1 for Koralia & aquaClear powerheads. I've had great experiences with both. If you have sand, make sure you use a pre-filter of some kind on the AC's to avoid sucking it into the powerhead.

I myself use Odessey power heads that have pre filters but my solution to keep clean bottoms involves my aqua clear HOB mods. What's your filtration like?
