I'm using a 120-gallon tank for my 3 juve gars, 2 plecos, 2 tinfoil barbs, and 1 RTC till probably end of this year.

Need some advise if the placement is OK or should I put the UV filter elsewhere, and if the powerhead is supposed to be higher or lower? Tank is outside so I'm having some algae problem, maybe some live plants this weekend.

Using small river stones as substrate but plan to go bare-bottom soon (the tank, not me lol). Can't find the box of the powerhead to check the GPH, all I know is the the bubbles go half the tank's length.

What UV unit are you using? If the power head blows air bubbles two foot across the tank it is probably too much for a UV pump. The slower the flow through a UV unit the better. If you have the tank outside where bugs and what not can get into the water you will want the slowest flow possible to eliminate parasites and other unfriendlys.

This is the type of UV filter I got last week. Still not familiar with the terms. Should I shut the outflow from the powerhead instead or move the UV filter? The current is quite strong.
