I'm going to change my 38 into a 55 soon, and was thinking about using undergavel filtration. Will the two maxijet-600's (160gph each) I have, plus a HOB for a 20G, plus a HOB for a 30G be okay? Planned fish will be either a coal grunter (maybe a couple, we'll see on the $$$) or a cuban cichlid and maybe some small dithers or bottom-dwellers. Thanks! :cheers:

If you take the stock from the 38 in your sig you will need more filtration. UGFs are ok filters but you need to clean under them at some point in time. IMO it's best to stay away from them. I would get two AC110s or two penguin 350Bs there is a link on here to get AC110s for like $45 through Dr.foster and smith go with them that is by far the cheepest around to my knowlegde. The more filtration the better.

The problem that I had with the UGFs is that the powerhead kept getting cloged b/c it would bring so much stuff back to the top. Now with the UGF gone. and and bigger HOB filter It is a heck of a lot clearer. and I am in need of a new powerhead b/c this one doesn't want to turn back on very easy after all the crap that has been through it.

The stock from the 38 will (mostly) go into the 75. But I can see how the powerheads will start to suck after a while.

I can't seem to find any info on AC110s through the net....any help?

ac110a = great.. end search :) http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=159226

ugfs worked good but there are much better filters on the market now..
i like powerheads using them with a sponge filter attached to them works great (they sell kits or just get a block of sponge filter and dig a hole in it)
