Hey I know powerheads are mainly used for saltwater, but are they needed or beneficial in freshwater. Im thinking of buying a Jebao wp40 on sale for the future 210 gallon tank for $80. I think one should be enough any opinions?

Depends, but i would say their definitely can be a need for them especially for fish that prefer to have some current in their tanks...

Also keeps any dead spots where poop and uneaten food gather. They are a definite plus to me as long as your fish don't mind the extra current.

Also allows more gas exchange to take place. I have a 1300 gph powerhead in a 125 with my tinfoil tank and the love it. I also catch my Lima shovelnose hanging out in it a lot. I replaced all my airstones with powerheads I would add one or two of them. What kind of fish?

The powerheads also make feeding time more interesting. Some fish chase the food and some fish just hang out and catch it as it comes by. They all get food they just have different techniques. I thing in 5 years powerheads are goin to become a piece of standard equipment.

I use an old 801 every now and again. Move it from tank to tank. I 'll let it hang in one side for an hour or so, then move it to the other side just to stir things up from time time.

Quickest way to clear the bottom of my fry and grow out tanks too. Blows every thing up in the water column for the overflows to grab.

I don't use them full time only because I fight to keep my temps down here in florida and any watts in the water add up.

It really depends in the type of fish you keep. I have a couple powerheads in my 40b for my payara's because they come from rivers where the flow is just insane but angels and discus don't like a lot of flow at all and require slow water movement so they wouldn't do very well with powerheads.
