ive got a 1in. rbp in a 29g tank should i put a small powerhead in and when should i do this? does it help them build muscle and burn fat? hes small so i dont want to overwork him

what kind of filter do you have on the tank?

I be careful what you put in side the tank. Fish that small get hurt really easy. I would make sure the filter your using don’t have any small holes. I would keep it KISS for now.

piranha come from rivers where there is current, you dont really NEED them but its nice to emulate there natural habitat. if you want more current i would suggest just putting a penguin 350 on it. it will create more current and you will get better filtering of the water. either way you should be fine for now. he will be ok with that filter no powerhead. just make sure he has a cave or somewhere to go should he get tired and want to rest away from the current. good luck.

btw, you can get a pen 350 shipped for not even 40 bucks from drs foster and smith online.

I don't know about it for a 1" one but they seem to like them as they get bigger.

:iagree:

I would be scared of the fish getting stuck or sucked by any thing flowing. After all it is 1 in.. Thats how fish disappear.

Not now! This is not the time for a stream inside the tank. Wait a while, till your RBP will be big enough (about 4-5 cm) and after that you cad add a power filter to generate a stream. But be careful: RBPs do NOT NEED A POWERFUL STREAM!
