I have a 125 gal tank with rbp's in it. Im just curious if a powerhead would be a beneficial addition to the tank, and what kind would work best. Thanks for the help

if your already properly filtered a powerhead would pretty much just add flow to your tank, bigger fish like a bit of a current, thats what I use one for, a bit more water movement because my bigger fish like it. you can also run undergravel filters, and some other sorts off them too....like a round foam filter....although thats not much benefit...some can also airate your tank....or you could just have your power head sucking in your own air bubbles....

Depends on what's in the tank.

If you have lots of rock work piled high, you want to encourage flow behind it.

But say, if you have mouth breeding African cichlids like Frontosa that are breeding, you don't want the high flow to disperse the males sperm and creating a low number of viable fertilized eggs.

Powerheads have a place in almost any tank, but it can be overpowered.

I have two AquaClear Model-70 powerheads with quickfilters attached at each end of the tank circulating and aerating my 125 GAL. I highly recommend them for many years of hassle free contiunous service.

thankyou for all the help, im gonna in look into a couple of different models

I definitely add powerheads with a venturi tube to increase oxygenation. They will help to move water as well as add oxygen, which will help your fish and also help to decrease nitrates.

If money isn't a problem get the ecotech marine vortec! I use 2 on my 450 gallon.
