powerheads

Hi All,

I'm just wondering what everyone uses for powerheads. I have a 150g and I notice it collects alot of scaps on the bottom of the tank. I clean out the solids everynight and am contemplating a powerhead to get some water movement and hopefully mix it up so my filter catches all/most of the scraps.

Anyone recommend a specific brand?

Hydor Koralia water circulation pumps appear to be a good brand but theyt are a bit pricey. I have always like the SEIO pumps as well.

And the follow up I guess is what GPH should I shoot for with a 150g?

I see two different styles. The maxi-jet is a pump that sucks it in and spits out water to make the circulation. Where as cheaper models are just a spinning propeller that moves water (so it doesn't have a dedicated input really).

I guess I'd just have to decide if I wanted to put a filter onto the power head or not?

In my 180g i've been using a Hydor Koralia 4. I only turn it on during the day and my tank looks alot cleaner than it did when i wasn't using a wavemaker. As soon as i turn it on i can see it push all the crap at the bottom to the other side where my filter intake is.
