So I've been having some problems with my HOB filter being too powerful. I have an Aqueon Whisper 20 on my 10 gallon, and it has killed 2 snails, 1 cherry shrimp, and I think it might've gotten my Albino Cory (It was in the filter, I just don't know if it jumped in there while I was acclimating another fish). I want to put something on the intake tube to prevent any of this stuff from happening, but I don't know what to do. Is there anything I can buy/make?

If you recommend a kind of sponge, can you include a picture of the sponge you mean?

Thanks!

Petmountain.com has the Maxijet prefilter sponges for cheap. Alot of people use them on their Aquaclear hob filters.

really quick, easy fix is to shove some filter floss in the intake area at the end that is in the tank.

I was thinking about doing the same thing with that exact product.

It turns out that my Dad actually went out and bought a little sink loofah/sponge thing for the kitchen that we don't need, so I cut that up and rubberbanded it to the intake. Thanks for the help though guys!
