about 2 months ago a picked out two pearl pups from shawn l at mn discus and exotics on the pre pay term.
over that time i talked to shawn a couple times and he seemed like a really good guy and very helpful.
i told him how much i loved the #4 male and he was the reason i was doing this deal. i even told a few members this as well. at first i picked #'s 4 male and 4 femalebut i later asked shawn if i could change and he told me that the breeder said that he already put the #4 female on a shelf and i had to get her but shawn said he was going to order a few pair himself and he added the #7 female for me.
all was great until about two weeks ago when i was on one of my facebook ray groups i saw a ray seller sellling my #7 ray. i posted in that thread that i had already bought that ray and asked him how he is selling it.
well...it wasnt a pretty thread after that but thats a different story.
so i called up shawn and asked him why is the ray i bought being sold.
he said he didnt know and a few sellers get the same picture. i said ok but in the back of my mind i am thinking i reserved this ray a month ago..why is this picture still being sent out???
so...finally i called shawn for an update on the shipping into the states because there had been a lot of delays for one reason or another. he told me that he got the shipment in that day and would send me a couple pictures that night and that i got my #4 male and my #4 female..the #7 female didnt come.
i was stoked.
then i get my pictures.....No #4 male and no #4 female!?!?!?! are you kidding me????
i instantly email shawn back and tell him NONE of my rays came back.
his response was *expletive*i replied how unhappy i was about this and he asked me what i wanted to do.
i said i wanted top picks of the pearls and one hell of a deal on a female flower. his response was that he would take 50 dollars off a flower ray.
seeing how that offer offended me i passed.
so..i picked the two rays that were best looking...but in my eyes way worse quality..and waited to be shipped in the next day...that was tuesday night.
when i got them they looked healthy ..no dent or bones showing.
but these rays are 4" wide..i was suppose to get 5-6"
took them home and acclimated them by drip and an air stone for over an hour..i matched the same ph as shawns tanks..i run a RO unit like shawn..temp of 80.
kept the lights off and they have been eating bloodworms and chopped up night crawlers.
this morning when i wake up i see him munching on a night crawler and i take off for work..i came back a hour and a half later and my male ray is acting weird. sitting in one spot swimming and then he starts swiming in circles...i look at him and something is amiss..his iris's have closed up and he is blind.
he can see anything..i go back to work and then come back home an hour later....NOT GOO.
he is spazzing out ..his disc is curling...then..bam...dead.
so..here i am..piad 862.00 for two pearl rays i NEVER picked out. i dont like as much. didnt really want but its better then not getting any money back...a dead male and a female i am not impressed at all with.
i have called him twice today and sent all pictures to him with no word.
my hopes arent high...
i have pictures of everything and i will post them later tomorrow night..i feel sick to my stomach and i want to lay down..
..it sucks..two months worth of planning for years to come....gone in an instant...
this has been nothing but a waste...
