Planning on adding a 210g to the roster in a few months and hoping to narrow down the list a bit. I like a lot of filtration on tanks (was thinking a sump or wet/dry but have never done one before, again ideas for this are welcome). I know that each fish have their own personalities so reality may be way different then what is planned but would like to bounce ideas long before hand. Still struggling on one larger wet pet or "smaller" multiple fish. I've been researching them quite a bit but have never owned anything bigger then a Dwarf Pike. (disclosure: these are not all going in one tank, the biggest ones would be on the single wet pet list, smaller ones would be on the multiple list to be gone through further for compatibility and size based stocking) So far on my list I have: JD, Green terror, Red Terror, Jag, festae, Midas, Severum, Red Devil, Texas, Wild Oscar, Flag, Pike Cichlid, Fire mouth... I'm sure there are probably more I'm missing but to experieced peeps out there what would be a good mix for a multi tank?

A sump will be great less noise and nitrate control than wet/dry. What is the ph of your tap water would suggest CA Cichlids if ph is 7-8 and SA lower. Would not mix CA and SA Cichlids due to higher aggression behavior in some CA Cichlids.
Oscars would be the biggest contributor of bioload due to their size and eating habits.

Also like to add that some specie of SA Cichlids are prone to Hole In The Head disease if kept in hard high ph water. The Oscar is one of them.

Oscar would be more of a single pet mainly due to that very point. My PH out of tap is right around 7 to 7.2. I currently have SA cichlids in my 55g, I keep the PH there down around 6.8 with drift wood and leaves.

Ok you are a step ahead which is very good. What species do you have in the 55 gallon?

Currently I have 4 keyholes, 1 Bolivan ram and 10 white clouds in the 55g. The white clouds winter in the 55g but have a 40g pond for the summer. The original plan for the 55g was to have a pair of rams as center piece but after the male passed I came across keyholes and fell in love.

I have a trio of Bolivian Rams they are underrated imo. Should have had them yrs ago.
