Precision Custom Aquariums any good?

I'm planning on ordering a 180 gallon from them in about a week. From what I have read a few years back they weren't very good, but a new owner bought the company and it's way better. I was going to go with Midwest Custom Aquariums, but I found Precision Custom Aquariums and it's about 50 miles from where I plan on moving in a few years, so I decided to go with them. That way if they're good enough quality I can just get aquariums from there after I move and pick them up to save on shipping.

I talked to Woody the owner on the phone and he seemed very friendly and knowledgeable. I'm getting a 180 acrylic with external overflow for around 1100 which seems pretty cheap compared to other brands. I think shipping is going to be about 300,so that kind of sucks. That's why I hope to be able to pick them up myself in the future.

Just curious though if anyone has gotten a tank from them recently and how it's working out for them.

No info? I guess I'll find out all on my own. On another forum I saw someone ordered from them and said it was very good quality, so I'll see.

I have no info on them but I would be cautious against tanks built with prices that are much cheaper than everyone else.

often times, they are too good to be true.

180g of water is no joke.

what I would do is try and get some more info on them before buying. perhaps try posting on another forum if no one on MFK can help.

Thanks. On a saltwater forum someone got one and said the quality was great. I guess the price isn't a ton cheaper. Midwest quoted 1230 and precision quoted 1087. Yeah I'm replacing a 210 gallon glass aquarium that broke in July, so I know how much that sucks. We just finally have the extra money for a new tank, so I don't want to relive that nightmare.

Searching for a new tank (180) and am considering PCA. It's been a few months since your post... Did you buy from Woody? What was your experience?

I am located about 30 miles from them and have heard nothing but good things. However, they are not active on the local reef club site, and seem to be unknown in the area.

Thoughts appreciated.
