Precision Custom Aquariums is no longer owned by Mike what his name anymore. I'll make this short because I hate it when people write books on here.

I called to find out why "Woody" was posting on Ebay under the Precision Name. I spoke with Woody(Who answered the first time I called) and discussed the aquariums he had and then asked about Mike. Woody was pissed. He bought the business from Mike in February not knowing the negative history with the business. I won't go into the mess he inherited, but he has repaired a number of Mike's tanks and not been paid for a bunch of tanks Mike ordered when he left.

I drove over to the shop today to verify what I was told. Woody was a good guy and seemed to be building some pretty good quality tanks. He had 2 240 gallon tanks, 2 180 gallon tanks, one 120 gallon, and two 300+ tanks that I took a look at.

The 240 gll tanks looked like good quality. I believe these were custom ordered and not picked up. Seems looked fine and I didn't see any scratches. 1/2 inch Acryic for the sides, 3/8 on top and Bottom. With internal overflows. Asking $750

180 gll tanks. Same deal. Ordered by Mike and not paid for. 1/2 Acrylic on the sides, 3/8 on top and bottom. One had some spilt cement on the bottom. Maybe a little rougher. $450 on ebay to start. With internal overflows. He was trying to get over $500.

120GLL - Looked pretty good. Same specs as the others. $400.

Overall impression was that Woody is good honest guy. The tanks weren't Tenecor perfect, think more "Glass Cages", but he wasn't charging premiums either. I did see some saw marks in a thicker tank that he was working to get out. He also had a couple of tanks in his shop that he was reparing from the previous owner.

Anyway, it is what it is. I won't be villafying Precision anymore because it's not fair to the guy that bought the business.

Good to know and thanks for sharing.

those seems didnt look great

Nope. Not perfect. But not unsafe. I'm just sharing info as it is and not shaping the news. I've been looking at tanks at the local fish stores and I have seen some pretty bad seams on some tanks. That goes back to my comment of not Tenecor quality. But for the money, they looked like good tanks. He is pre-sanding the seams to get better adhesion, which Mike was not.

I have ot add something here. I dont know if any of you have an acrylic tank with 1/2 inch on sides and 3/8 on top, but if you do then you have the same MAJOR issue that I do. The top of my 250g. is bowing so bad that the lids dont even fit right, it is the scariest thing to look at. I will never have a tank without 1/2 all the ay around or 3/4 all the way around, the tops bow so bad from heat and pressure. Sorry to jump aeay from original issue, just wanted to pass that along.

Thats good to know also, that would be a scary sight.

Good info. I posted a question on another board regarding 3/8 on the top of a 180. A number of people came back and said it would be fine as long as the holes were not cut to large.

A 240 or 250 is a long tank. Do you think that it would have been fine if it were only 6 ft. long? Are you using Halide's?

Unperfect seams just dont seem safe to me. Why would someone keep the name of a company with a bad rep? Doesnt seem too legit to me personally.
