Nice video. You also have a nice set up for him.

That is a very unique fish. When I saw the title of your post my first thought was not another red belly... happy to say I'm glad I checked it out. Awesome fish you have there!

Thanks this piranha species has to be hands done one of my favorite. Been doing prior research on the piranha for about 8 months wanted to make my self more familiar with the particular species with mine being from the Peruvian region he's adaptable within clear or dark waters with that being said and with the species rare large size capacity of at maximum 12" in aquariums maybe 7-8"in. If anything you have to be patient raising these particular piranha because there growth rate are known to be quiet slow with difficult up bringing with piranha handler please note watch hands when feeding.

elongs are cool but their fatal flaw for me is they're not one of the more cosmetically pleasing piranhas to look at. plus maxing out at 9 inches in aquarium really puts a damper on them for me. they are pretty active when given the right set up though. i just don't recommend them for people who only have room for one tank, dedicating one tank to one fish that isn't the most social will have people racing to trade their fish in to get somethin else.

To each is own that was a very opinionated answer I particularly like the fact that the serrasalmus elongatus doesn't resemble any other piranha's. To add that this is a very solitary piranha best known for fin nipping and attacks of it's own kind or any other piranha or fish. Which I really enjoy about this elongatus a monster in the form of a fish he's crazy active even a finger chaser at that. These species are one of my favorite.
