I was hoping to set up in the near future a tank devoted mostly to Predatory Catfish, the dimensions would be 96 x 24 x 25. I was hoping to focus on less commonly seen cats and wanted some suggestions for cats that would inhabit all strata of the water. Some of the stock I know I want to include that would affect the cats chosen would be Geo's(either brasiliensis, altifrons) and I was going to keep a group of Trachycorystes Trachycorystes. I was considering Ageneiosus marmoratus or magoi and the little more common Sorubim Lima/Elongatus as upper level dwellers. Does anyone else have some good suggestions for rare cats that'll be fine longterm and fairly unprobematic comm'd together?

Chrysichthys Ornatus. It's a smaller cat with a big mouth. Mine seems to be maxed out around 10". It's not aggressive, but can be territorial under its little piece of driftwood. It has kind of a gold/bronze metallic shine under the light.

lince cats! and Belodontichtys dinema.
Thanks for the suggestion. The Lince while awesome will be too big in my opinion for the tank. I do like the idea of the dinema though, they're common name is Sheetfish right?

A cool cat but I'd worry that as a bottom dweller and a small one they'll get smacked up or eaten by the Trachy's since they'll probably be competing for the same hides.

Thanks for the suggestion. I've had Ornates before and they are cool but they might not be ideal in this set up for the same reasons as Ornatus.

I'm hoping for more mid to upper level swimmer recommendations. Thanks though guys I'll take the suggestions under consideration.

According to planetcatfish, they don't have a common name.

Yeah I might've confused dinema with another fish or maybe not. I don't know due to me not really ever hearing much about them.

Hopefully the thread isn't dying down as I could really use some suggestions and again thanks all who've responded.

The Synodontis Eupterus, or Featherfin Catfish is a very fascinating cat!
I dont know if this is what your looking, but mine seem to enjoy to swim around the surface upside down, or even sometimes just stand still in the midwater upside down.
But mostly theyr at the buttom so i dont know if its something youd like.

How about an Achara? That may be a BIT small width wise considering their long barbels but it would last it for a good while anyways.
Or a Channel Catfish, they do fine with tropical temps for a NA fish and they are really interactive when they get big enough.
