My house.
So I am very new to catfish as I have always been a poly guy myself. Recently however I have had this huge desire for an all south american tank, so I ditched all polys *tear* and got myself a megalodoras uranoscopus. I originally planned on getting more so that they could be more comfortable in a group and was totally okay with housing them in a monster tank in the future. However, I'm sad to say they just bore me. I thought polys were lazy but these guys barely move and that's if I can even find the bugger. So that brings me to my question. Can anyone suggest a predatory Catfish that can live in a pair or trio, doesn't exceed 24", and can handle itself with a wolf fish in the tank. I understand the risk of mixing predatory bottom dwellers but have been quite lucky with my projects so far.

Not really predatory, but 4-line cats, or sun cats stay under 24" are fairly predatory in the sense whatever fits in their mouth they'll eat, I'm assuming your trying to put these with your golds and the other wolf you have. The 4-lines have worked for me in the past with a mala, I'm trying a sun cat out myself for the first time now with my curu. If I had a preference id say the sun cat, he's a lot more active, where as the 4-lines didn't necessarily hide but they didn't swim around much unless food was in the tank then they'd swim very quickly for it, my sun cat swims in all regions of the tank everywhere, and he follows other fish around like when the bichirs go up for air. But I believe sun cats are from Asia.. Not sure on that one. Another cat, though also not from South America, that I've had success with, is an Asian upside down cat, they're supposed to get to 18" but the biggest I've heard of was 14", same with sun cats. Maybe some others can give you better suggestions. I'm just thinking of what I've had success with my wolves. I had a bullhead at one point too till my curu tried to eat him and he didn't make it from the bite.

I'm not sure if they're South American but pictus cats stay fairly small and are extremely active. Look really cool in a school as well

Try a vulture catfish.

Thank you for all the input! I was actually going to ask if you guys thought vulture or bolt cats would work. I read they don't like to be in groups though. Anyone have any experience?

thebiggerthebetter thebiggerthebetter had a group of vultures.

I am leaning towards a pair or trio of vultures but I'm unsure where I would look to find these guys.

Marbled Pim!

I love the look of marble pims but I was under the impression that they got huge and needed massive tanks so that there barbels aren't constantly hitting the glass
