Alright, Just a quick question, Yesterday I Inherited i very nice group of fish,

4 Fresh Water Baracuda,
2 walking Catfish (albino and piebald)
1 pin pictus catfish
1 rapheal stripped catfish
1 spotted upside down cat
1 black ghost knife
1 blue channell cat

they are all very small right now, i got them all for FREE from a friend at a local fish store, Now they are in a 29gallon tank right now, i do have a 240 gallon, but i must wait for my floor to be braced, are they ok in the 29 for now? they are all getting along right now and i just couldnt pass theese fish up!

they baracuda are like 1.5 inch,
the biggest fish i have right now is the rapheal cat at about 2 inches,

the tank looks like it has tons of room for now,
will they be ok untill about june untill i set up the 240 gallon!?

hi and welcome to mfk.

tank sounds overstocked but there isn't much you can do right now seeing as you can't setup your 240. June is in 4 months which is awhile away i would try get rid of a couple of em. Mean while do more frequent water changes.

the chanell cat is already going in the pond as soon as it is warm enough, and mabey ill get ride of a walking cat,

if i did water changes once or twice a week would that be enough?
Or i could set up a 55gal untill then, would that be better?

Quick question also, if i wanted to keep those fish in a different tank,
what gallon would be good? would a 150 gallon be to small for those fish?
what if i did the 240 with a True Gar?? Or a arrowana,
then i could move the walking cat in there with it,
would the Fresh water cuda and the other cats be ok in a 150?

Ultimately, the channel cat and walking cats will outgrow and potentially eat the FW barracudas (Acestrorhynchus, I presume).

why dont you put some of em in the 55 and some in the 29 till you set up your 240? or just go reinforce the floor, why must you wait till june to do this?

we are renovating our house, and it will not be completed untill about june, so my parents said i cant set up a tank that big untill then..

so if i were to split up those fish, how would you recommend the split?

Which fish would you put in the 55, and which in the 29?

Thanx,

RyanR

i won't keep the ghost knife or the upside down cat with the walking cat or the channel cat. I heard alot of stories about walking cats getting too big and mean and eating just about anything it can fit into its mouth and so is the channel cat that's a bit calmer, but also gets big, with a big mouth.
