hello..i was just wondering what type or kind of gravel u guys generally prefer..big or small or sandy gravel..i know dis usually depends on wut kind of fish..but im just generally asking..well for me i have a wolf n ssome other fishes..thnx in advanced..

I prefer the bare bottom tank, but my wife likes medium gravel. If I had a substrate it would be a mixture for plants, laterite, small gravel and medium gravel.

i want to have a decent amount of plants in my tank what would be the sugesstion for substrate that would support a variety of plants plus where can i get it! i need to cover a new 75gal and all that the stores near me sell is medium and large gravel. if i want anything smaller they only have 2lb bags of floresent colors (yuk!)

i ahve tried everything. my fav for most all fishis a dark sand. with some small rocks in it. my fav is black sand with some biger black rocks. it brings out the color and darkens the fish. white is also good it lightens ur fish

Bare is best, but I hate the look, so I use just enough gravel to hide the bottom. It's about the size of a dime. I can move the gravel vac easily through it without much effort. If I recall, it's called "Pond Pebbles" by Estes.

ya bare looks cool to, it easy to clean as well

thnx guys
