3 1/2 months ago now I saw my Leo's breed. I'm thinking she is due any day now, but it doesn't look like she has put on much weight. I have read the first time they give birth it may be only one pup.
Would I be able to tell ? I thought I had seen movement but it could have been from moving around she doesn't hold still when I am by the tank.

some females hold their size on their belly and hardly grow a hump above their tail.you can NEVER tell litter size by eyeballing..they'll always surprise you.if you can catch her sitting still, look just above the tail where it meets the disc..usually where you see the most movement.these are at least my experiences..others may have some insight.

At 3-1/2 months i would think she would be very fat and you would be able to see movement even if there was only one pup...

Try feeding very heavy and see if she sits still for a few minutes.

Post some pics too, she may be fatter then u think since you see her every day

My marble had one pup and never knew she was pregnant. Never seen an increase in size nor any movement at all.

My Henleo got big, saw movement, then nothing. Waiting to see if round 2 is any different. Best of luck, seems the first go around is typically pretty rocky.

Sorry the water is cliwdy I should have known better than cleaning the filter pad before taking a pic. She is thicker but I was expecting her rear to be bigger compared to other preggo rays I've seen. Still not seeing movement even after feeding this pic is before her dinner

if you are looking a fair amount and not seeing movement this late into the pregnancy she might not be pregnant. I would say 80 percent not pregnant. But also knowing what to look for takes a little practice if this is your first time but late into it all you can see it easier and easier, Great looking ray by the way

I do feed fairly heavy 2x daily they get a tilapia fillet a dozen shrimp and a couple of night crawlers for flavor. This last month she let's me know when she is hungry by banging rocks into the floor if the tank. She doesn't stop until she is fed.

Bryan,

My first black ray litter she held one pup. I saw movement (barely but did) at about 50 days or so.
Getting up around 100 i didnt see the movement very much any more. at about 135-140 she finally gave birth and i found a dead pup. Dont know if the rays killed it or if it was still born. The second litter she had it was much more obvious movement and hump and she had two healthy pups.

Hope this helps,
good luck keep us updated. should be 115 days to 150 for black?

How are the p14?

Thanks for all the info guys I guess I'll just wait and see I do think she is big enough to hide one pup but I also am not going to be unrealistic just because she bred does not mean it took or that it will end well. Giving her a full term amount of time won't hurt anything after that she is going back in with the male for another round.
Keepin, the 14's are doing good how are yours ?
