Hello everybody, a couple of days ago I noticed that my Motoro female is pregnant. She is 13-14 months old, 10 inch in diameter. Male is also 10 inch. Some movement is seen on female's back.
I have concern about what should I do.
1. When to expect the birth of pups?
2. How to know that the time has come? (Stops eating?)
3. What should I do with the tankmates: 24 inch Silver Arowana, two 9 inch Oscars, one 6 inch Datnoid, Silver dollars and Eartheaters? Should I separate female with divider? But I have read that male mates her right after the birth, so if she's separated, means no new litter?
4. Would it be OK to leave her with tankmates, or would it be a danger for pups?
Here are some pics of my 317 gal. aquarium.

1:105-110 days after mating if you know when she was mated..otherwise you'll have to pay close attention to her and will most likely know when she's close..males will usually bite and harrass them when its due.

2:if the male is harassing her and keeping close to her.
3:should be ok unless you think the fish will see the pups as a food source.
4:i would put some driftwood for the newborn pups to hide under that the other fish cant get to.

congrats on the pups!

Thank you for reply.
I'm still not sure if Oscars and Arowana be safe for the newborn pups. Any other thoughts on this?
Also I'm feeding my fishes once in two days with frozen sprats. As much as I understand it's not enough for pregnant female, and most probably she should be fed once a day? Although other fishes don't need that for sure.
Are there any pictures or videos of females just before giving birth. I would like to see how they might look like, so I would know the time has come.

One more question. I decided to separate female by divider in the same tank. If I miss a birth by 6-8 hours, and return a female back to a male later, would a male still be interested in female? How long does that take, how much time do i have?
