So I use to own an aro but after 2 months it unexpectanly died. It did eat like 4 feeders that night possibly more then it could handle and began swimming off balance and having serious mobility problems then died. I have gotten over my fear of purchasing another arowana. I have a brand new 40g breeder that I'm going to keep a 5inch arow in as a growout. I really don't want another $65 down the drain. With that being said is there anything I can do to prevent it from dieing. My last one had a lot of tank mates. This one will be solo till it kicks the need to eat live food for some months. Then I will add a large school of silver dollars I have been growing out. So any sugestions?

My bad yea silver I tend to think everyone knows silvers are the only aros you can own in florida. What kind of diet like shrimp and what kind?

Have a good plan for an uprade on tank size. The 40g breeder will only properly house that 5" aro for 5-6 months at the most. Good possibility that it could need a new tank in 3-4 months. Keep a well sealed and secure tank top, as the majority of arowana die laying on the floor beside the tank.

I was planning on a net over the top to prevent him smacking his head on something ultimently hoping for no DE. Also I was thinking that 5 months would be max he could live in there. I will definetly upgrade him.
