Hey guys, next week is my spring break so i'm trying to judge how to handle my fish responsibly. I have an established 55g in my apartment containing: 1- 9" Albino Oscar, 3- 5" Peacock cichlids, 1-6" Eye Biter cichlid, 1- 8" Synodontis Eupterus and a small Raphael cat. Now i would prefer not to have to move the fish back home, but my priority is the safety of my fish. I understand healthy adult fish can go for some time without being fed but i don't want increased aggression in the tank (specifically from the Oscar on the small cichlids). If anyone has any suggestions on preparing a tank like mine for a 10 day break i would be very grateful. Any tips on weekend feeders and automatic feeders would be great too. Thanks guys! :headbang2

i'm in the same boat as you. as of right now, i don't have any smaller fish to worry about much.. but i've increased the temperature in the mean time to speed up their metabolism. when this happens, they'll eat more and i intend to power feed my fish in the mean time. when i leave for vacation for 7 days, ill have the heater off, dropping the temperature back down to room temperature. also, i'll be doing a large water change a couple of days before i leave.

you can always those automatic feeders. i'm not sure if it feeds pellets, but definitely flakes.

edit: just read the very last sentence of your post. it seems a popular choice are eheim automatic feeders

cut the temperature down a couple degrees turn off the lights and roll... nothing you have will have a problem with 10 days without food and as far as the oscar aggression the lower temps and lack of light should help some
