I found a nice size hollow log (about 4'). How can I make sure it is safe to put in my tank? It is too big to boil, I can put it in an unused tank.

power water spray blaster hose (can't think of what it should be called) spray it down and then drop it in a rubbermaid tub and let everything leach out. where did you get the log from?

Its called a pressure washer, but if you cant get ahold of one then what you do is put it in a waterproof tub big enough for it to sit at the bottom, then pour hot watter over it,you may need to put rocks or something on it to keep it from floating, pour super hot water on it twice a day for about a week then i always like to scrub mine before i put it in the tank

there we go, pressure washer! but make sure you got it from a safe area...where there are no chemicals that may have soaked into the wood over time

Make sure that when you pressure wash it that you don't get crazy and use a extremly high power nossle. I know that my 3000psi pressure washer will cuth through most of my driftwood if I hit it with all 3000psi.

i agree hose it down with a pressure hose and then you can tie it down with a brick in an tub or garbage bin and let it soak there for a week or so (until it sinks) thats what i did with my DW in my tank at the moment and have had no tannis leech out.
