So I got a 30gal about three weeks ago and have 5 piranha in it (it's 30gal long). I'm thinking February or march I'll have a 100gal tank for the guys. What I want to know is what kind of filtration do you guys suggest? I think someone mentioned two AC110s in a different thread. I also need a heater for the tank too. I know this is going to cost quite a bit, but I REALLY don't want to spend that much.

Anyone know of a good website that'll have lower prices than a local pet store?

Check out the stickied $35 AC110 thread in the "Setup and Filtration" area of the forums. It provides you with a reliable website and a coupon code to get any amount of AC110's at 35 dollars a piece. As far as filtration goes, you want to overfilter rather than underfilter. P's are extremely messy eaters and when you feed them raw fish it adds a lot more waste to the water than pellets or flakes.

I think when full grown having 5+ requires at the bare minimum 2 High Powered HOB filters. I have also been told to add a canister just to promote good water quality and health of the tank and fish. As far as a heater goes I'd look into getting a Visitherm Stealth, they aren't too expensive and they do a great job, they are also almost unbreakable which is excellent in a P tank. I'm sure some of the other guys like AK, Mal and Sticky will have some more info for you.

I would do the 2 ACs if you have money issues, and get a canister filter to... XP3 from doctor foster and smith... 2 HOB wont be enough..

you can also get a FX5 if you have a little extra money, brand new on ebay for $170
