first time using a touch screen phone? lol
you should be fine leaving the lights on... look into getting a timer to plug your lights into so you dont have to worry about ever turning your lights on or off.
i have all of my reptiles on light timers

timers are best, but...
if you are only going to be gone a day and the house is heated, I would leave the lights off. 60-70 degrees won't hurt him for a day, especially if he isn't being fed that day anyway. you should ALWAYS run a daylight with a UV light. dim light opens up the pupils and allows much more UV to reach the cornea. that leads to blindness. the UV should also be as close to the heat lamp as possible, that way when he looks directly at the UV he's also looking at the brightest area of light. that shrinks the pupil protecting the cornea.
