I am getting my tank ready to add an eel to my tank. It will most likely be a peakock. I removed a lot of the grass I had growing on the bottom of my tank leaving mostly sand. Other than a few swords growing in the rear corners it is bare. I want to build a few caves but am not very artistic. I was hoping I could see some pictures to give me some ideas. I have a 125gal if that helps. Any ideas?

These are some old pics of my zigzag. He is a lot more social than my peacock ever was but when he hides these are two of the main spots I find him. Just be prepared for you peacock to be under the sand 95% of the time.

Make sure you plug any and all holes in the lid as they love to escape. I plug holes near filters and pumps with old fluval sponges and it works like a charm. The only time I see my eels is during feeding time, other than that they are a pain to find. At least my tiretrack has a designated hang out spot so I can see his head.

good luck with the new eel

we have a fire eel that stays in its cave all day, but it will dig, and try to do so under the cave so always be on the lookout for them being able to knock over anything improperly settled into the aquarium (rocks, wood, etc).

gl! mine always would be half buried!

I first bought my peacock eel a few months ago and all it did was hide under the sand.
Unless it was feeding time.
I moved the eel into a larger tank and it hardly ever hides...it will go dive under the sand and play but comes right back out again, I see it swimming mid level of the tank quite often. I recently bought a second one and it is mirroring the original eel :)
