In a house
I was browsing Wal-Mart yesterday and wandered into the fishing section. I saw they had natural baits bagged, like shrimp, shiners, and shad. I was wondering if any of these would be safe for fish as a meal once in awhile? The only company I remember from one of the bags was Magic. The shrimp and squid they had were brined as well.

I'd have to weigh in as no on that, I'd be worried about the chemicals in the preserved bait building up in the aquarium if not my fish.

spelling is not my strong suit!

I would in the absolute strongest possible sense urge you NOT to do this. Keep in mind, it is extremely unusual to practice catch and release fishing with these types of preserved bait. Most clearly state the strong smell given off by their product as an atractant for the targeted fish.

In addition it is also common to put all kinds of hormones/ phoermones into this type a bait. Bad all around without an upside.

I would be shocked if there was not a warning on the label: Not for human cunsumption! This should tell you all you need to know!

There were such warnings on the packages saying it was not intended for human consumption, but I didn't really think it didn't mean fish can eat them(cichlid sticks and nightcrawlers at a bait shop aren't necessarily made for human consumption either lol).

And don't worry, I didn't buy the baits. I was doing some Christmas shopping when I noticed them and thought to myself "Hmmmm...I wonder if anyone has tried these as food for their fish before..."

I'd eat night crawlers before I'd eat those baits, lol

well some frozen fish food say not for human consumption but I agree with the above posts. definitely would not feed it to my fish.
