Anyone using these things on their ray tanks?
I have been looking at the fishmate one which has a built in UV but just realsied it is UVC and not UVS.Is it worth running these things as extra biological filtration? I am planning a 6 or 7 foot long sump up to 3 foot wide so will have plenty of room for media. What other add on filters are worth considering other than pressurised?

Nice to have for the tech but cannot see that you need it. Uvc is not much use to you and cannot convert to uvs. I would add a big external as a back up and use a small pump to run a dedicated uvs (or two in a line) and run this as re- circ to keep the water moving even if main pums are off.

Hi Toby. Thanks for confirming, that is exactly what i was thinking! Its just that i read on here about someone using the bio filter and wondered what others thought. I will be running a seperate pump for UV and taking water from one end of the sump and dumping it back in the other end so should do the trick.
