So i was doing homework and i decided to take a break and watch my pleuros, thats when i noticed the strange behavior. I saw them all gather at the surface into this tight ball like formation and then they sat there for a couple minutes and started gulping air and splashing, almost like they're playing with the bubbles. It's kinda hard to explain, they seemed to be gulping air really quickly and then shooting it through their gills, they'd take turns doing this.

anyone experience similiar behavior? sorry if this didn't make much sense, it's 1:30 here and i haven't slept in a while... sooo tired...

probably a fly or something above the tank, and they were all trying to stay ready to grab it if it came within range, that's my best guess.. hunting mode

There pack hunters like wolves...watch this, nothing until one attacks the fly then they all go for the fly..

notice the fly on the glass, watch from around 28secs in to video...

Well that sounds like mating behaviour to me!:naughty:

No not a mating behavior as they are still small.

I have noticed this with my baby argus when I removed the parents. I think it's a sign of self defense from other predators. Your pleuro probably though your a predator that is trying to eat them.

probably, they're still super timid, and always hide from me. strange thing though is that when i was doing my homework it was pitch black except for the tank and my laptop screen + i wasn't moving, so i don't think it was my presence that caused them to do that

It's probably the darkness as when I have my baby argus they also did it under the shades.
