So after about a year and a half, i bought out a buddys tank collection. I sold all i didnt need or want and have a few 10s and 20s, a 75g and a 220g.
I dont have any pics yet but the baby jar, that my fianced named kong, is about 3in long and is in a 10g for now to watch feed and observe until hes large enough to put into the 75 and then on to the 220.
Im going to try to make him a friendly jar, although i know their.attitude. I was thinking of some larger sa/ca cichlids.

good luck with finding something to keep with it, because as they get bigger they get nastier and bigger nastier and nastier all jokes aside they are a really nice fish butt nasty. I would rather raise a nice black because you can put it with other fish that you mentioned when it is three feet long like the one I have It is in a 420 gallon tank. lots of luck. Noel

Mines killed loads over the years ive managed to keep a large jag alive he needs his pipe to retreat to when things get heated , ive also got a large pacu they do scrap but nothing major because of its sheer size , got lots of big Cats also they seem to work fine , good luck they can be evil fish im sure mines the devil ;-) but you've just got try stuff out he'll prob be most aggressive between 8 and 12" seem to calm once they bossed everything to near death lol

how are you going to make it "friendly"? lol

I have actually trained several aggressive fish I put them in the hospital net which is the size of a 10gallon tank for a day or 2 and they usually stop chassing my small fish but my jar haven't tried don't want to he's nice at the moment lol as evz said its a hit or miss iv got heaps

I will get pics here soon. Im not going to try to make him friendly, just hope that he will be!! This will be my first time at buying a "centerpiece" and raising it from young. All my.other aros or rays i used to have were purchased a yr or older so im pretty excitdd to just watch him grow. My only attempt is to keep him w the same tankmates and let them grow together and try to get him away from live food.... I know its a shot in the dark but im sure eeirder things have worked!!

Some of us get lucky, my big 20" jar is as peaceful as they get. Has had most tank mates you can think of and has never hurt anyone.
