In The Little Town Of Bedrock!
Alright so I got a 15 gallon tank from Value Village the other day and it holds water! For only $5.99 Canadian So thats like what $1.50 American?
Anyways, my plan is to make this a Southeast Asia biotope. My stock list is as follows;
3 Bamboo Shrimp
7 Gold Barbs
2 Kuhli Loaches
3 Three Lined/Scissortail Rasbora
5 Red Cherry Shrimp OR 5 Tiger Shrimp

Now I wanted to make this a river type biotope so I came up with this design to mod my spare Emperor 300, not to mention it will give the Bamboo shrimp their much needed current.

The light blue will be some hose that will attach to some PVC to make a frame like this one ( http://www.loaches.com/articles/river-tank-manifold-design ) The darker blue lines represents the water flow, black box being the filter, red line being the intake pipe, yellow around the red line being a sponge. The sponges will be in the front of the tank with this design but that is okay, I'm going to try and make some DIY rocks to cover them with the inlet facing the back of tank so you can't see them.

I also wanted to try and make this a planted tank so I was thinking of making my own substrate via mineralizing soil ( http://www.aquaticplantcentral.com/...-mineralized-soil-substrate-aaron-talbot.html ) For plants I've come up with a small list but I'd like your take on them, if you have know of more Southeast Asia plants that would be great.

1-10cm Java Moss
1-20cm Nanjenshan Rotala (Mayaca sellowiana)
15-30cm Java Fern
Eusteralis (Eusteralis stellata)
Blyxa Echinosperma (Blyxa echinosperma)
Blyxa Japonica (Blyxa japonica)
Whorly Rotala (Rotala wallichii)
31+cm Bog Scarlet Hygro (Alternanthera sessilis var. rubra)
Dwarf Ambulia (Limnophila sessiliflora)
Dwarf Rotala (Rotala rotundifolia)
Giant Red Rotala (Rotala macrandra)
Floating Eared Watermoss (Salvinia auriculata)
Asian Watermoss (Salvinia cucullata)
Aldrovanda (Aldrovanda vesiculosa)
Floating Watermoss (Salvinia natans)

I won't be using CO2 or Ferts so I've rigged my own little light system. It holds one 24" fluorescent tube and two 15W daytime "Bright White" coil fluorescent bulbs, think that will be strong enough?

Now should I worry about the current being to strong for my plants/shrimp/fish?

By the way, the tanks dimensions are 24"x12"x12" (LxWxH)

Thanks!

from what i heard the bright lights are pointless for plants
