I'd start dropping the pH and hardness before introducing them. Plus, I'd put them in a larger tank with a divider in it, let them see each other for a few days before trying them out without the divider in there. Either way I'd keep a close eye on them!

I know what you are saying my Xingu I pair got along in a busy 240 fro a long time then the male took over and she hides most of the time now. Too bad they are such beaters.
