I have heard that floating a red ping pong ball in your tank will help prevent your aro from getting DE.
Is this correct, is it worth trying or will the ping pong ball leech something into my water?

i have heard of keeping just the arowana in a fiberglass tank on the floor so it can only look up

yep thats true. i went to an aro farm in sg not long ago and the guy there mentioned that if aro develop drop eye to put in a large pond for a period of time or alternatively surgery was the other option.

to prevent drop eye ive heard not to feed it fatty foods like goldfish etc as this is one cause of drop eye and also if aro bang their heads on tank..

This topic has been brought up before.... but I don't think the red ping pong ball will help.

i think my aro would try to eat a ping pong ball lol

Maybe a baseball would be better suited for your Monsters:)

If the ping pong ball did have any affect, I believe the aro would quickly become disinterested in it. Try using a fake lilly pad and placing crikets on it, the aro will then be able to hunt the crickets giving him a reason to look up.
