hey guys
i got my 2 inch arro
but im not to worried about him jumping now
but when he gets big enough to be put in a bigger tank
i was wondering how to prevent him from jumping out
after he outgrows my 10 gall
i was going to put him in a 55g
and i was going to give him to my friend once he gets to big
in the back i have my 55 i have all my filter jets and suck things
but theyres some holes at the top where the filter pipes go
should i be worried about him getting out through theyre??
theyres a very strong current because i have 2 filters
and also how about the frount part of the tank that lifts up
will he be that strong to be able to jump straight out of the tank that way?
thanks guys

put a brick or a rock on the lid, and don't worry about the aro jumping through the little hole in the filter, i dought he has that well of aim...lol

Seal ALL holes or slots that your arowana could possibly get through. It's not that hard to do and do you really want to find your aro dried up dead on the floor?

GO to Home Depot....Buy some framing wood that would be found boarding a picture frame....Then get some mesh wire, or some cloth wire....Cut to size the wood to the appropiate width and length to the top of the aquarium...Staple the wire mesh to the frame....And WHalla!!!

Just how 'big' is your friends tank? If I were you, I'd move into the 55G A.S.A.P so long as he cannot be eaten by other tankmates.

Why do you think a 2" fish would need a 55g as soon as possible?

hes only 2 inches tho
and all the other fish would give him a hard time
and more than likely kill him
and i want to monitor his health also and get him on some good foods before i throw him in my 55
my friends tank is 275
thanks guys
the mesh wire sounds like a good plan
do u have it up?
if so can i see a pic or 2?

I would secure all modes of escape! I litterally found my endli bichir dead a couple hours ago. He managed to not only jump UP a few inches to get out of the water and to the plane of the lid, but also through a small gap that was only about an inch big. I've never seen him ever go to the surface otehr then to breathe air, so I didn't think the small little gap was any sort of a problem.

It's what you don't expect that usually gets you. Best bet is just to take away any chance of it happening, no matter how the odds feel.

put a few floating plants that also helps
but never had jumping prob with the aro i have
