I was suppose to pick up this bass from a fellow member this morning. When the fish was netted, it freaks out and the mouth suddenly pop right out and it couldn't go back in. We tried to push it back in, but no prevail. So I left without the fish and during my long journey home, I got a text said the fish pass away :irked:

Does anybody know the cause of this unusual behaviour or have these experience before?

And...

Is there any way to pop back in a dislocated jaw / mouth of a peacock bass?

Wow! Sorry to hear Man

Most likely was stressed to the max. Something similar happened to a bass I tried to move once. Some people actually bag the fish while its still in the water by scooping them up with the bag. Cuts down on stress

I would bet it was already stressed coupled with the netting equaled a freak out... sorry.

Anymore I always recommend a rubber net for all fish. Has a bit of flex to it and also they are super soft to the touch.

Any sporting good place. We use rubber nets for bass and stuff cause the hooks don't get caught up as easily. They might be a little big but that's probably a good thing in this case.
