thanks! a couple more shots...i did say it's a little much...haha - will have to rearrange the woodwork to allow more swimming space for the gars once the wood sinks though. this "pen" is for gars 12" - 17"

yeah, give us a full tank shot to see how much is in there...even if it sinks it may still be too much for gars (if that is what you are keeping in the tank primarily). 17" fish can easily get tangled up/damaged in that complex of habitat in small space. shots are great as always--

great pics! i like how the gars have darkened up, they look a lot more like the ones we had at that age now (so obviously a substrate/habitat pattern shift). setup looks great, but i still think its too much for the gars (may work great for scott's pbass, but obviously gars are different)...all they need is to be spooked into a tangle and you could be looking at broken backs or other damage. also note that they are now entering their more vulnerable stages of broken backs as far as what we have noted in tropical gars...basically latter half of their first year through their next 1 year or so.

looking forward to the FTS--

thanks! i wanted the light based pattern you had on one of your more recent trops, but a trop's a trop.

decor wise, i actually removed half of the dw (since the original pics), so its now much more sparse. the tank is 2' deep and the wood only occupies about 4-6" of the bottom. will get pics to illustrate what i mean asap though!

i didn't know that. any theories on why this is so? seems with cubans it's the first year
