I went to the lfs today and they had some fish labeled as "Sea Bass," but they were in freshwater. I asked about it and the employee told me that he doesn't know anything about the fish. The owner got it in and dropped it off and had to catch a flight. They look like some type of perch. I'm not too familiar with perch, but it has a silver background and dark grey blotches around it's body. They were selling it for $2.99 at 2" Is this a good deal? Can anyone tell me more about freshwater perch?

they taste great grilled with lemon salt as far as keeping them sorry never seen them outside the fish market.

Sounds like your lfs is taking advantage of the millions of barramundi that have started entering the country. These guys are brackish water fish and grow to impressive sizes.

Sounds like a very cool fish I would buy them all if I know where it is I got the first batch of those fish, and I paid more for each a month ago. Now they have a whole bunch coming in at a lower price...

That first picture looks like them, but I can't tell from the dorsal fin. They're first dorsal fin is very pointy right?
