Price difference WTF???

Ok since I was in the area I went to Big Al's to check out the prices of a 220 and a 265... they have their tanks setup back to back, infront they have a 150Long for $1795 and on the other side they had a 220 (72x24x30) for $1399!!!!

Anyone know what is up with the price difference? but because the 220 new is pretty cheap I am probly going to go for that rather then the used 220 for $1000 that comes with a homemade stand...

Oh and both come with the stand, lights, lids etc.

the difference is in the type of wood stand, and the brand of tank.

at my local big als they have the same thing:

a 150 gallon tank with a "Mission" stand and canopy by All-glass (aqueon) is more expensive than a 220 gallon Perfecto set up with particle/board laminate stand.

the 'mission' series is the 'top of the line' stand at all-glass and is quite a bit more expensive than some of the other stands.

I am pretty sure the 150 had a pine stand and the 220 was def. a pine stand as that is the tank I was really looking at.

i saw something like that at my lfs but soon realized it was becuase one was drilled and one wasn't.. but other than that... id have to agree with 12 volt and say different stands

sometimes the sale specials are not necessarily as displayed in the store. they stick the sign on the tank but its not actually the set up that you buy.

you can ask the staff to clarify exactly what it is that you get with the sale sticker price.

Well the sign said "pine stand, 72" double light, lids, tank in black or oak for $1399"

are you talking about the 220 in oakville or mississauga?

because the one in oakville has been sitting there for a long long time, that may be another reason that it is on for so cheap.

quite often they will put floor tanks that have been unsold for months and months on sale to move them and put other stuff there.

or... the store bought the 150 as separate items... and the 220 as a set... like if i were to buy a 40 breeder with stand lights and lid it would cost me more than a 75 setup would...

idk here just thinking outloud..

only way to really know... is to go ask them why the price difference..

the one in Mississauga, their tanks are mainly for display tanks and not actually for sale atleast the bigger tanks since they dont actually stock them in the store.
