Hello! :D
For those who have big fish and big tanks..... What is a good general price for a 180 gallon aquarium and accessories? I am welcome to anybody's opinion but do prefer people who are knowledgable about very big tanks and the best deals...

What is the best filtration for an aquarium of this size with big fish?

THANK YOU ALL!!!!! :headbang2

Best wishes! Happy Holidays :arow

It all depends on YOUR preferances. Study the various options available to you. Check out the pros and cons of each and then find what is suitable to your needs. I spent a year just studying equipment before I bought my 150 and I'm still undecided about my filtration meathod.

The first thing to think about is that a 180 really isn't big. When I bought my first tank (a 90) I thought is was big. It was bigger than any of the other ones for sale at the lfs. I soon found that a 90 is SMALL. So then I bought an AGA 180 with the dual megaflow overflows. I thought the 180 was HUGE, never seen anything so massive, everybody at the lfs I ordered it through crowded around it and oooohed and ahhhed. After I got it set up and was around it awhile, now it looks small too. Depending on what you want to keep of course, bigger is always better. Get on glasscages.com and you will see that once your in the 180 and up price range it's really not alot more to go bigger. Now, as to cost, my 180 with the overflows, plumbing, DIY sump, twin eheim 2217's, twin Magdrive 7 return pumps, etc was $1400 not counting the stand and canopy which I built. The tank itself was around $800. I highly suggest a sump. I really wonder if the Eheims I run are even worth the electricity? they really kind of suck compared to my sump. One last thing, think about reinforcing the floor for anything over a 125 (90 if your house is of questionable build qual. or is old) good luck.

Here's how I supported my floor, it's no joke, these tanks can runi your house and have been known to fall through floors!!!! be safe

New or Old?? Glass or Acrylic?? Well I'm assuming that you are asking about a brand new 180 gal. Acrylic tank with accessories right? Well with all accessories including stand... i would probably guess a good general price would be from $2000- $2200
Thats including the 180 gal. tank, stand, canopy, dual overflow, Wet & dry Filtration (must have!!), return pumps, heater, flourescent light fixture.

There was one around my area used 180 gallon with stand, lid, filter ,and gravel for 750$ it would be lots of $ to ship.
