I've reserved a pair of redhead severums, both around 5 inches or so, from maidenhead aquatics for £100 for the pair. Male and female but not a proven breeding pair. Sounds like your getting a great deal to me ...
wow didnt know they went for that much! although maidenhead are always a little more pricey. I've been advised these are mouth brooders which is uncommon?
Yeah they are not cheap fish, they orginally wanted £55 per fish as well. Mouthbreeders sound uncommon to me but to be fair this will be the first severums i've kept.. as far as i know they are substrate spawner, well the redhead/rotkeil are substrate spawner. Good luck with your new pair
Heros severus and Heros sp. Atabapo (which may or may not be the same fish) are mouthbrooding severums. All other severums (H. efasciatus, H. notatus, H. sp. rotkeil) lay eggs on rocks/caves/driftwood and do not display mouthbrooding behaviors.
