Price of Fish jumped?

I got out of keeping fish for a couple years now, except one lungfish. Now i am trying to get back into the hobby but noticed that the price of fish seems to have doubled. Is this the case everywhere or is it just my LFS?

ive noticed the price of saltwater fish has doubled. the price of freshwater fish seems 50% more. its probably from when the price of gas got real high, all though the availability alot of saltwater fish in the wild has significantly decreased it seems.

depends on the fish.. alot of fish are being captive bred now that wheren't. and alot of wild caught fish are getting harder to import/find. and alot of fish are hitting the cities list so they are impossibleto aquire unless captive bred. alot of countries are stingyier on what can be imported, along with the increase of importation fees.. It's no one thing.. but no single area of the hobby either..

Yes around here it sure has.

One of my local lfs's sold retic ray pups for 35 bucks 4 years ago and now they are 99.99

Everything else is about 50-80% higher now then a year or so ago.

I think because of the eco situation. And there sales numbers are lacking SO they have raised the prices to try and make up with what sales they get.

Half the customers and double the price = same outcome for them as before.
