Price on a Flowerhorn

I hate to start a new thread for a seemingly simple question. I have no idea what grade of flowerhorn that my LFS is going to have...she has gotten some really incredible fish...the Nics I bought from her were execptional quality.

I wont be able to get to the LFS until Saturday. She ordered a Flowerhorn for me and quoted me a price of 59.99. The FH is 5 inches.

The price seems a little high. There is no shipping involved and she guarantees all of her stock.

Is it a reasonable price or not?

(And no I do not have pictures...LFS is 1.5 hours away)
 
Depending on the grade of the fish we need pics or we ( them ) can tell you the price. As i dont know about pricing floerhorns but yea pics would be the only way. Some flowerhorns can sell in the thousands theres this flowerhorn on aquabid for 10 thousand and people are bidding on it.
 
true, all depends on price and at that size for 60 bucks, it's either a great deal of a rip off, could be a nice pet though and mid grade fish
 
She hasn't really ripped my shorts on anything yet.

I picked up a couple of more Nics the other day that were 6" for $10 each.

Any fish I ever order...she holds it until it is eating and appears healthy...no to mention she won't sell anything to me without testing my water first...so she is pretty ethical.

But I wont have pics until I actually get there...I live in the middle of the mountains...we call it "life on the island"...
 
the problem with FHs is if you have a LFS order them in without first seeing them. your chances of getting a good one is small. especially if the LFS don't normally know or sell FHs. plus she is ordering in 1 for a special order for you, and charging 60bucks, wow. i mean really she is gonna get whatever is avail to her, through her supplier. she honestly isn't gonna care about the quality, just that she got what you wanted.

i have had success with 2 "special" order FH's through my LFS's, but i didn't pay 60bucks tho. i wish you the best of luck. hopefully you get a good one.
 
She said to come look at it and she what if I like it...

She also said that she gotten a PBass, a Jag, and some smaller FHs. The PBass is around 6 inches. She also got in a Purple Rose Queen.

She orders these specifically for me and lets me have the first gander. If I am not interested she ends up selling them anyway...

The good thing is that she holds them until they are eating and appear to be healthy before releasing them. Sometimes that part drives me nuts. Because she will in some cases hold them for two weeks.

I'm going to take a look at em Saturday. The smaller FHs are 12.99 each.
 
That's the thing I haven't gotten an average fish from her yet.

The only fish that is a little suspect is the TSN. It has a little gill curl. But everything else has been top shelf.

She has been fantastic...her husband on the other hand is a little bit harder to deal with...
