Pricing Help

One of my aqua sources called up and apparently he has a L168 [Butterfly Pleco] with him [3inches].

He is asking for approx $80 + shipping.

All i know is that it is bloody rare [pardon the language] to find plecos out here but i recently lost a Golden Nugget Pleco after 3weeks of purchase and cant really afford one...

but if he is actually worth it then i just might steal some money

I wouldnt let a GN dying on you put you off too much. They are notorious for being difficult to acclimatise and often are in poor condition to begin with.

If $80 is a stretch for you then I would wait, perhaps try a hardier and generalist plec like an Ancistrus or bushy/bristlenose if they are available.

I don't know the current going price for them but when I bought mine back in the 90's I paid less then $15. Which was at the bottom of the fancy pleco scale price

thing is these fancy exotic plecos are extremely rare to find out here whenever someone does take the trouble of getting them here, they'd be all tiny specimens

anyways decided to let this one pass and hope i find some other pleco soon
