I had a bit of an accident while changing water. my hand slipped and a dose 3-4* amount got in the water. This morning, all the fish are okay but my tank water turned to a shade of yellow green, like an algae bloom, etc this happened at night with no lights...

Question

1) How long prime remains in the system
2) How long must I wait to measure NH3 in water?

Thanks

Have you done a water change yet, that would be my first suggestion. When in doubt on anything though I change water, and often lots of it.

Prime won't dissolve unless it has something to adhere to. Do a large water change and only dose 1/3 of what's required of prime and you'll be good.

Id throw a load of carbon in your filter ASAP! Hopefully overdosing didn't kill your bb, that stuff is toxic.

That's why when I do wc I throw some carbon in a bucket, poke holes thru it and set on top of tank, then I set hose in bucket, I only 1/4 dose prime and my fish are noticeably less stressed.

Thats a pretty good idea.

If it is still a problem I would do at least a 20 w/o prime. It seems like you have too much w/o anything to dissolve. If it needed some chlorine dissolves fast and once won’t have that much of an effect. I worked at swimming pools for almost 10 yrs, that stuff evaporates fast.
