How long does everyone recommend I let the water sit after I have conditioned it? I use prime and the water has chloramines in it. Does anyone with Chloramines fill there tanks with the filter running and then add Prime?
Thanks in advance,
Shawn

My tap water has chloramines and what I do is put the prime in the tank first and then add the water. If I'm doing a large water change like 100 gallons I would put a cap full then add water. Then when it's half way done I add another cap full and fill the rest of the way. Never lost a fish doing it this way.

prime per seachem directions:

prime mixed with tap water 10ml prime for 100 gallons no aging required

prime mixed in fish tank with tap water 10 ml of prime per 100 gallons of tank size !!!!

I always bucket the water in I don't get why people feel OK putting the hose into the tank and blasting the fish with chlorine. I don't wait at all, I put the Prime in the bottom of the bucket then fill it up, walk 15m to the tank and tip it in.

I put Prime in the tank, then add the water.

This is my (cheap method) I do all my mixing in the trash can (purchased for fish water aging) as you can see I also have an air stone. You may not be able to tell (and this is over kill on my part) I have active media at the bottom. All the water gets sun for 48 hrs at least. Add salt and that gets about all the shtuff out of my water. (people say my method is "old school") I don't think many people do it this way but I change all my tanks at least 20% every day, and it makes up for all my lost gym time. (hence the sig.)

like john said aging water does not remove chloramine. chloramine is more stable than chlorine so it doesn't gas out like chlorine does.

Chloramines will break down if exposed to sunlight so if the container used for aging is outside and not covered you can still age water.
