The instructions on the Prime bottle states that you should add enough Prime for the whole volume of your aquarium? Why can't you just add enough for the amount of water taken out?

you only have to add for the whole aquarium if you are adding your water straight to your tank. This is because it will get diluted and not perform aswell as dechlorinating your water in another container before adding it to your tank.If you dechlor in another container first, just use what you need for that amount only but you will have to let the water sit for a while to make sure.

I always add enough for the whole tank.

this is a water conditioner it is designed to remove chlorine, chlorine and ammonia. prime converts ammonia into a safe, none-toxic form that is readily removed by the tanks bio filter. prime may be used during tank cycling to alleviate ammonia/nitrite toxicity.prime detoxifies nitrite and nitrate allowing the bio filter to more efficiently remove them. prime also promotes the production and regeneration of the natural slime coat. prime is none acidic and will not impact pH. prime will not over active skimmers. use at start-up and whenever adding or replacing water

i just treat the whole tank everytime i do a water change i like prime :D

same here I treat the whole tank unless its a 5 gallon topoff for my sump then its just a capful

that's what makes the dosing pump really nice

If I dose for the volume of the entire tank, I'll end up using almost a whole bottle of prime every month.

What size bottle? I go through a LOT of prime, but none of my fish are dead so I'm not complaining:D

50 ml bottle. I do a 50% water change every week so I use up a bottle in about 2 months. I will get the 100 ml bottle in the future when I upgrade to a 75g.
