How long should it take to get an overflow primed? I've been sucking on the air valve for a few minutes and nothings happening. Starting to get light headed.

Are you talking about a u-tube? If so, then both sides should be submerged in the water and the airline tube should be right in the middle and then you suck. after you get water flowing pull the airline fast while pinching it at the end so no air gets into the u-tube.

How do you have both sides summered in the water?

You have to add a bit of water to the other side so that you can pull the air out.

so fill it up to the t-fitting?

yes to the T..
if you are able to fill it above the T fitting take it apart and rebuild it cuz you did something wrong...

lol i guess that was a stupid question ;) Should the rest of be sealed? Won't you be sucking air in from other parts? Like the part that goes into the sump?

So basically fill it to the t-fitting and cap everything so no air can get in. How do you know when it's ready then, since there won't be any running water?
