I am a serious fish hobbyist that is highly interested in owning a Delhezi Bichir. I have a 4'x6'x2' 200 gallon pond that is home to 2 large ID's and a large golden clown knife. My largest ID is 25" and he has owned me for 15 years. The pond has heavy glass panels on top. I wish to learn an owners point of view. I have researched on google but the best knowledge comes from owners. Feel free to give me advice. My only downfall might be actually aquiring one. I live in Ontario, Canada. My loyalty will be to my first monster, so can I mix my fish with a birchir. I have a baby ID that should be big enough for the pond in 7 months. He is only 6" now at 5 months old. Iwas thinking that he should be the last edition. Until I saw this bichir. S let me know your thoughts. I look forward to hearing from you. Thanks for your time.

this is in the wrong forum, look for the bichir forum, its a few above this one.

but anyway, bichir are awesome fish, they look amazing and have great personalities. for a pond that size i'd recommend one of the larger species of polypterus (bichir) such as an endli or a lap.

http://polypterus.info/profiles.htm most of these have good info for them, look through the profiles and find one you like.

Excuse my ignorance, but what does ID stand for?

Do yourself a favour, get yourself an endlicheri! or two or three... i started with one and now have 4... i also have a 2 delhezis and a longfin senegal, but imo, not much compares to the endlis.... (see my avatar):naughty:

I too own an Indo dat, and between it and the endlis, they make up my fav Fish overall....On equal level imo...

Trust me, you will not regret it.,.,..

It might stand for Irridescent Shark. That seems to be used a lot.

correct:)

your large iridescent shark will deff. eat the expensive delhezi.
if the shark is nice though; don't worry the knife will

Iridescent sharks arent really inclined to be eating other fish. The clown knife, however will try to eat a small birchir.
Buy one of the larger species and grow it out untill it's a suitable size so that it cannot be eaten by the CK.
