Why are asian arowanas banned? i know there endangered but they have them in canada...wouldnt they be glad to have us breeding them and adding to their numbers? or is there another reason why their banned?

Such a loaded question. The main reason is really about red tape regarding the CITES II treaty and the interpretation and enforcement of the document.

Several countries have banned the importation of Asian arowanas because they are on the Endangered List. Why the ban is still continuing since many places like Singapore have proved to be very successful in breeding them purely for the domestic marketplace. I don't know how successful captive breeding has been in reintroducing them into the wild though. The US is very big on ensuring a successful reintroduction program before they lower their bans.
